Kris will be sharing her knowledge in a variety of topics, from affordable beauty and fashion tips, cooking, negosyo, relationship and love advices, family and parenting, homemaking / how tos / DIYs to health and fitness tips. Each day will be focused on one topic, thus, giving our viewers a different experience everyday.

The cast was announced during a press conference in April 7, 2011. In the story conference held by the network, it was stated that Kim Chiu will topbill the series together with Cherry Pie Picache, Glydel Mercado, and Ai Ai delas Alas. Three leading men were chosen for the series which includes Jolo Revilla, Matteo Guidicelli, and Xian Lim.Filming started in April 2011 in Binondo, Manila and Hong Kong.

Jade is the daughter of Zheny Dimaguiba and Chinese businessman, Chen Sy. Chen is disappointed that his first-born child is a girl instead of a hoped-for son. In Chinese culture, a first born daughter is considered a sign of bad luck, therefore Chen wanted to give Jade away to an orphanage. Full of remorse, Zheny quietly returned to the Philippines to raise baby Jade alone. Years later, Chen discovered that Zheny also gave birth to a son named Yuan but does not know that he died after being born. Throughout the series, Jade meets Andy and Trevor Wu, brothers that both begin to develop feelings for Jade; as well as, Onyx, Jade's childhood friend. Jade is forced to pretend to be her own deceased brother, Yuan in a later incident. A scandal covering most of the media news reveals that Jade has in fact been pretending to be her deceased brother in Chen's birthday party. The scandal leads to many things that eventually settled Jade and Andy's relationship and the establishment of the successful ZhenChu Topps, a combined business between the Dimaguiba family and Andy and his mother.

Later in the show, Jade and Andy got married in Hong Kong to please Chen and so Andy can get back Chen's money from his father, Edison Wu. They lived together but do not sleep in the same room. Chen learns that he is really, really sick and so he fires Amethyst and Trevor from Twin Dragons. Amethyst builds up her own fashion boutique with Trevor. One day, Jade decides to reconcile with Andy by bringing him beef steak in his office but she didn't like what she saw. Patrice came to Andy's office and said she's madly inlove to him. So, Jade drops the food and went home. Andy went to her room and saw Jade packing. Andy said that he made a promise with Chen that Jade will never cry anymore and he intends to keep that. Jade forgives him. Chen raises up money to buy back Twin Dragons from Edison for Jean took the money when they divorced in China. Edison almost got hit by a big truck but he only got a bruise on his head. Nobody visited him in the hospital. So, he changes himself and instead of selling Twin Dragons to Jean, he gives it back to Chen for free and with his shares. Chen turns over the ownership of Twin Dragons to Jade. But Jean got angry so she told Amethyst to get her file in her private office. She pays the IP personnel of Twin Dragons to hack Jade's company e-mail address. She sent some files that makes some fight between Jade and Edison. Edison hires a hitman to shoot Jade. But, instead Onyx gets in the way and e gets the bullet into his arteries. Andy saw the hitman and tried to wrestle him. He also got shot. Edison and Jade brought them to the nearest hospital. Onyx wakes up from comma a few hours later but Andy is still not waking up. Jade went to the chapel of the hospital, Trevor looks for her and told her that Andy woke up already. But the time Andy woke up, Onyx dies. The hitman tries to call Edison for his money but Edison did not answer the phone. So he sent a video to Jean Sy's house with him in it saying that Edison is the mastermind and he wants to shoot Jade. Edison went to prison. Andy postpones the wedding and Jade moves into her parents' house. When Edison's trial day came, he admits that he is guilty.

Months later, Andy visits Edison in prison and tells him that Jade has expanded the Twin Dragons, adding 4 more branches within just 6 months. Edison tells Andy to stop being miserable for him, but instead live his life with Jade. So on Jade's birthday Menchu, Zheny, Chen, Trevor, Amethyst, and Lola Amor surprises her. After Jade blows her candle, everybody leaves the house. Andy enters and proposes to Jade for the third time. And so, they got married in the church.

Marco (Richard Gomez) grew up as a versatile, intelligent yet immature young man who only learnt to straighten himself up after meeting Emily (Dawn Zulueta), the daughter of one of their workers. But another woman is in Marco's life, her name is Jane (Rita Avila) who eventually won this battle of love. Marco and Jane had two kids who they named Johanna and Nathan. Meanwhile, Emily is sent to jail after covering for the charges of her father. After years of imprisonment she returns to avenge Marco, who she thought used her for money.

Johanna (Melissa Ricks) and Nathan (Paulo Avelino) each have their own love stories - but they're not the main protagonists. Nathan is in love with his childhood friend, Katerina (Julia Montes), the daughter of their family's rival business, who is in love with Daniel (Coco Martin), one of their helpers who has been in their lives ever since childhood. Meanwhile, Johanna is in love with Daniel, who is in love with Katerina. Preparations for the film was done in July 2010. The film was to be helm by the critically acclaimed director of Muro Ami and Pusod ng Dagat, Marilou Diaz-Abaya. Initially, the films tentative titles were Peñafrancia and Ina. But later on changed to Ikaw Ang Pag-Ibig.Filming started middle of 2010 in Naga City during the 300th anniversary of Our Lady of Peñafrancia. Unitel Productions was supposed to produce this film but when it backed out, the Archdiocese of Caceres in Naga City, Camarines Sur decided to fund the project. The said parish is led by Archbishop Leonardo Legaspi, O.P.D.D., who has held this position for the past 26 years.

The film has been Graded "A" by the Cinema Evaluation Board, and Rated PG-13 by the Movie and Television Ratings and Classification Board. It has also been endorsed by the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, the Association of Catholic Universities and the Manila Archdiocese and Parochial Schools, Association, Inc.

The movie revolves around a young, contemporary, rebellious woman Vangie Cruz (Ina Feleo), whose family life and career as a video editor are disrupted when her only brother, a newly ordained priest, Fr. Johnny (Marvin Agustin), is diagnosed of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. As a sibling, Vangie is called upon to be a donor for Fr. Johnny's bone marrow transplant. At first, Vangie is very reluctant. She has a clinical phobia for medical procedures, the reasons for which are rooted in an attempted, but botched, abortion which she suffered through many years earlier and has since been troubled about. Her life is saved by Dr. Joey Lucas (Jomari Yllana) with whom she has a love child, and whom she eventually marries. Vangie's dysfunctional family gravitates around Fr. On a fateful day, Yi-Kyung gets off a bus and wanders around. She then stands in front of a busy street and attempts to kill herself by walking into oncoming traffic. At that time, somebody saves her life by pulling her back. At this moment, Ji-Hyun, who is driving nearby, hits her breaks, but can't avoid the semi-trailer truck that has stopped in the middle of the road. Moments later, Ji-Hyun walks out of her car in a daze. She is shocked to see her body being carted into an ambulance. The only person who seems to notice her standing in the road is a man on a motorcycle. The man on the motorcycle is the Scheduler (Jeong Il-Woo) - an angel of sorts who awaits to take souls to their final destinations.
Ji-Hyun follows her body into the ambulance and watches as the paramedics attempt to revive her body. At the hospital, Ji-Hyun meets the Scheduler again. The Scheduler tells Ji-Hyun that if three people (besides her family) genuinely sheds tears over her condition within the next 49 days, her body will awake from its coma and she can live again. “Sinusubukan po talaga ng mga karakter na gagampanan ko 'yung kakayahan ko. Magkaiba po kasi talaga 'yung personalidad nung dalawang characters,” he said.

Martin will have two beautiful leading ladies, Eigenmann and Salvador.

“Grabe 'yung role ko dito. Lahat ng training na pinagdaanan ng mga sundalong lalaki, ginawa ko rin. This is the toughest role I have ever portrayed,” Eigenmann said.

Salvador, meanwhile, revealed she enjoys her unique character in the series.

“NPA ako dito eh. Sa masukal na kagubatan kami nakatira. Ang saya. Kasi 'yung mga bagay na 'di ko pa nararanasan sa totoong buhay, at least may pagkakataon akong ma-experience sa pamamagitan ng seryeng ito,” she said.

Lorna Tolentino, on the other hand, said this could probably the hardest role she would ever portray.

"Hindi harder ang role ko. This is the hardest na ginawa ko sa career ko," she said.

The veteran actress will play the role of a mentally imbalanced wife of a military official.

In the series, Tolentino will face off with award-winning actress Amy Austria, who was persuaded by Tolentino to act again.

Austria has stopped acting for a while, considering herself "retired".

Tolentino and Austria have been close friends since they worked together in the film “Dulce Amor Ina” in the 1970s.

Filipinos will relive the teleserye launched 14 years ago that gave birth to some of the most unforgettable Philippine soap opera characters such as Magda (Dawn Zulueta), Fernando (Ariel Rivera), Selina (Eula Valdez), Gabriel (JM De Guzman), Michael (Enrique Gil), and Via (Lauren Young).

Life will change for Olivia Pereira, the only daughter of Don Fernando Pereira, on her 18th birthday. Aside from learning that her dad promised her hand in marriage to her childhood friend Michael, she will also be abducted by armed men ordered by her very own aunt Selina.

She will be saved by Gabriel, a simple guy and a taxi driver whom she will later fall in love with. Little did she know that she is close to discovering pieces of her past and of her identity as Gabriel’s foster mom Magda turns out to be her biological mother.

In this remake of “Mula sa Puso” under the helm of its original director Wenn V. Deramas, viewers will get to know the characters even more as the series further dissect every character and their stories like Fernando and Magda’s past relationship.

The whole cast has been preparing for their roles and they leaving no stones unturned in reviving the colorful and famous characters of the series.

“I watched the movie just to get a sense and feel of it, but I still want my portrayal to be fresh and different. I don’t want it to be a carbon copy,” said Lauren, who will reprise the role of Via first played by Claudine Barretto.

“You will definitely see a different Enrique here. Very different from the characters you usually see me play,” said Enrique, who will play the role that Diether Ocampo portrayed.

“We are really giving our best so that we can at least be at par with what the first ‘Mula sa Puso’ gave the viewers,” said JM, who will play Gabriel, a role that marked the career of late actor Rico Yan.

The series also marks the return of Dawn Zulueta, Eula Valdes, and Ariel Rivera on ABS-CBN.

“I feel at home again. I’m excited to work with old friends and colleagues again. I trust Direk Wenn. He will surely guide me on how to reprise the role of Selina,” said Eula.

“My last teleserye in ABS-CBN was ‘Lastikman.’ Then I got pregnant and gave birth. I am now back and I am honored that ABS-CBN chose me for the role of Magda,” said Dawn.

“This is an emotional comeback for me,” says Ariel, who was part of the original series and will take on a bigger role this time. “I am excited to be part of ’Mula sa Puso,’ which was a record-breaking soap.”

Conception

1DOL was launched during the ABS-CBN Trade Event held August 24, 2010 at the World Trade Center Manila. It is also part of ABS-CBN's celebration for the 60th Year of Philippine Soap Operas.
On August 21, 2010 to September 4, 2010, ABS-CBN aired in its Saturday primetime block "The Making of 1DOL", a 30 minute special on how the series was conceptualized.
The series premiered on September 6, 2010, simulcasted live on three different television channels, on Studio 23, Cinema One, and ABS-CBN.

Synopsis

And yes, it has finally come true as the said network brings the kapamilya viewers into a higher notch of television viewing via “Noah”, premiering on July 12.

A story arced on love and family, Noah is topbilled by the country’s Ultimate Heartthrob Piolo Pascual and ABS-CBN’s miracle boy, Zaijan Jaranilla. According to one of the directors of the series, Lino Cayetano, both are very much suited for their character.

“It was perfectly woven for Piolo and Zaijan. Mararamdaman mo yung chemistry nila as father and son. And dahil may chemistry na, napadali ang trabaho ko bilang direktor dahil hindi na kailangan ipilit,” Direk Lino shared.

After the hit primetime series May Bukas Pa, Zaijan is set to play a “lost” boy who grew up with the Ungtas, a group of ape-like beings.

Paired with Piolo is one of the most beautiful faces in Philippine showbusiness, Kristine Hermosa. Piolo and Kristine’s last project together was “Komiks presents Mars Ravelo’s Nasaan Ka Maruja?” where Piolo had a special appearance. Their reunion in Maruja filled in their 10-year hiatus away from each other after “Sa Sandaling Kailangan Mo Ako”.

Agua Bendita is a fantasy drama series on ABS-CBN. This is one of ABS-CBN's offering for the celebration of 60 Years of Pinoy Soap Opera. It introduced Andi Eigenmann in her first starring role.

Comics

Agua Bendita was a comic created by Rod Sontiago in the 1980s. It was published by Liwayway comics. The comic has never been adapted into a movie as it was not as popularly known before as it is now. It was first popularized when it was adapted on television through the series, Komiks.

Previous Adaptations

It was a previously serialized on Komiks also on ABS-CBN was launch on 2006 and again on 2007 during Holy Week 2007 and had two part episodes during Season 1, starring Shaina Magdayao as Agua/Bendita and Rayver Cruz as Ronnie. There was no third pair on the Komiks series unlike the 2010 adaptation.

Casting

The show is led by fresh new faces in showbusiness. Andi Eigenmann, Jaclyn Jose and Mark Gil's daughter, gets her very first starring and title-name role on primetime television. Eigenmann has been doing some recurring characters on other series, such as Prinsesa ng Banyera or her guesting as a Houseplayer on the second edition of Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition, but never have been the lead. Andi Eigenmann will play both the supernaturalistic girl Agua and her normal cruel twin sister Bendita. The show will also feature Matteo Guidicelli and Jason Abalos as Agua and Bendita's love interests. This is also Guidicelli's very first starring role in a primetime series and Abalos's return on television after the afternon drama series, Nagsimula sa Puso. Although there was no love interest for Bendita, Abalos was added as a pair.

Returning on acting and on primetime television after over a couple of years ago with Maria Flordeluna, singer-actress Vina Morales joins the cast as Agua and Bendita's mother. John Estrada also joins as the father of the twins and he returns on primetime after Dahil May Isang Ikaw. The show will also feature Alessandra de Rossi who returns on primetime after the successful Tayong Dalawa. Veteran actress Pilar Pilapil is also casted for the show after the successful Lobo.

Plot

Agua Bendita follows the story of twin sisters, one is normal while one is born with a physical defect. Agua will struggle to find meaning in her life as she deals with her unexplainable physical condition. Meanwhile, in spite being born normal, Bendita will grow up insecure toward her twin sister. Agua and Bendita will become bitter rivals, until through a mysterious stroke of fate their situations will be reversed. Is there a way to cure the hatred between the sisters? [6]

Synopsis

A couple from San Antonio, Marcial and Mercedes, waited for 5 long years to once and for all conceive a child. And upon getting their hands on the unlikely chance, they learn about Mercedes’ critical condition that puts her pregnancy at great risk. Desperate to save his wife and the twins in her womb, Marcial steals the agua bendita that Padre Gido had left for Criselda. Surprisingly, it miraculously salvages the lives of his whole family; but since he had taken the said agua bendita in a deceitful manner, he couldn’t help but be deeply bothered by his conscience. And just as he had expected, karma instantly takes its toll on them--one of their babies is born with an unusual physical trait. Aware that Agua’s predicament will truly upset Mercedes, Marcial decides to hide the kid even from her. Without hesitation, he tells his wife that she unfortunately died immediately after birth. Discreetly, he sends Agua off with his most trusted housemaid to a secluded place. But after the enraged townsmen in the area learned about her existence, he is left with no other choice but to lock her up inside an abandoned room inside their house for her own safety. Agua continues to wonder why she can't be with her mother and twin sister. But Marcial still fears for her daughter's safety. Meanwhile, Amalia spoils Bendita much to Marcial's displease. This ignites further disagreement between Marcial and Amalia, and Mercedes is caught in between. While Marcial is out, Amalia calls a priest to have the entire house and the clinic blessed. Tonyang immediately hides away Agua.

Mercedes wonders why her husband spends most of his time at the clinic. Amalia suspects that her son-in-law is having an affair and attempts follows his tracks. She and Mercedes barged in the secret room in the clinic where they see Agua. Upon catching sight of Agua’s unusual physical appearance, Mercedes is immediately caught in surprise. She simply couldn’t believe that the extraordinary kid happens to be Bendita’s twin sister. But after giving much thought on the matter, she finally ends up accepting the fact that Agua is also her daughter who deserves all the motherly care and affection that she can offer, so she then decides to take the kid inside their house. In order to successfully do so, Mercedes and Marcial decide to introduce Agua to Bendita. But to their dismay, Bendita is pretty much vocal with her refusal to accept Agua in any way. Bendita and her grandmother Doña Amalia deviously trick Agua to once and for all keep her out of their way. Insistently, they bring the poor kid with them, and they relentlessly leave her behind in the middle of nowhere. Completely oblivious, Agua tries seeking her way home, but to her dismay, a group of wicked men furiously run after her. Fortunately, she meets a nice kid named Tot. After she miraculously cured the young boy’s disability, he gladly escorts her back to her parents. Incidentally, Tot happens to be Criselda’s son. And upon learning about the miracle Agua can do, her husband couldn’t help but grow interested with the kid’s wonder.

as Bendita Cristi - Bendita is a spoiled brat and envious twin sister of Agua. Despite being physically normal she will grow up with a lot of insecurities. She feels that her parents are taking all their attention to Agua due to her disability, leaving her behind. She grew up hating Agua and very close to her grandmother.

* John Estrada as Dr. Marcial Cristi - Mercedes' husband, he was poor yet Mercedes had fallen in love with him. Due to his status, Mercedes' mother Amalia have hated Marcial. Luckily, Marcial managed to finish a course of Medicine and have managed to help her wife.
* Alessandra de Rossi as Divina - a lass whose father is the late husband of Doña Amalia's sister. Since her father died, he had always been abused and shamed by the family. She begun to have a crush towards Marcial.
* Dimples Romana as Criselda Barrameda - Padre Guido's niece who was suppose to have earned the miraculous agua bendita. Marcial stole the agua bendita from her. After finding out that Marcial stole the agua bendita, she never stopped hunting down the family following them everywhere to get revenge, which also caused her husband to be sent to jail.
* Pilar Pilapil as Doña Amalia Montenegro - Mercedes' mother. She is very close to Bendita, but not to Agua who she mostly state as a 'freak'. Due to her evil attitude, Bendita inherits her behaviour. She also doesn't like Marcial for her daughter, causing her to not talk with her daughter for a long time, that is until she got pregnant.
* Carlos Agassi as Baldo Barrameda - Criselda's husband who is a gambler and a drunk. He tried to kidnap Agua to make money out of her healing abilities. He mistakenly kidnapped Bendita and was sent to jail.

* Malou Crisologo as Tonyang - Agua's nanny. She always takes care of Agua and most of the time becomes her companion. Tonyang has been the family's maid/nanny for a long time and is one of Marcial trusted people. She and Marcial are the only two people who knew about Agua's disability when she was born.

"Malayo Pa Ang Umaga" originally composed and sung by Rey Valera. This soundtrack was also the same theme song of the former daily Primetime Drama Soap Opera Ula: Ang Batang Gubat over IBC-13 way back in 1988, starring Judy Ann Santos. The new version of the song is sung by Aria Clemente (2007 Junior Grand Champion Performer Of The World of WCOPA).

Young Agua and Bendita's appearance extension

Because of the show's high ratings, ABS-CBN have decided to extend the appearance of Xyriel Anne Manabay, the child actress playing the young Agua and Bendita. This is because the high ratings garnered were on the length of time where the characters of Agua and Bendita were still young. It is believed that the appearance of the child will last until April/May 2010. This news have created speculations that new actress Andi Eigenmann have decided to back out from the show. This speculations are yet to be confirmed.

Rubi is a currently airing television series remake of the Televisa's Rubí and produced by ABS-CBN. This will be one of ABS-CBN's offering for the celebration of 60 Years of Pinoy Soap Opera that premiered February 15, 2010.

2004 TV series

Rubí was a Mexican telenovela that was aired in 2004 on Televisa with actress Bárbara Mori in the title role, Eduardo Santamarina as Alejandro, Jacqueline Bracamontes as Maribel and Sebastián Rulli as Hector. The series had a total of 115 episodes.

Popularity in the Philippines

Rubi became a success in the Philippines because it was previously aired by the Philippine TV network ABS-CBN on its noontime slot the slot as other European telenovelas are shown. Despite its timeslot, Rubi still managed to reach primetime-series-like ratings. It may have been more popularly known for the tagline, "Bidang Kontrabida" (The Protagonist Antagonist), as it changes the stereotypical idea of antagonists on dramas being a supporting role or the main villain.

Casting

The likes of Kristine Hermosa and Angelika dela Cruz were rumoured to likely be casted as Rubí, the role eventually went to Angelica Panganiban[3], who has proven her versatility as an actress when she played the socialite villain Scarlet dela Rhea in the drama epic Iisa Pa Lamang. Rubí will be markes as Panganiban's very first primetime leading role as most of roles she had played before are more of being a supporting. Also from Iisa Pa Lamang, Panganiban will be joined by co-stars Diether Ocampo and Cherry Pie Picache. Ocampo will play Rubi's love interest as Hector and Picahce as Rubi's martyr yet courageous mother. Joining the cast is Jake Cuenca and Shaina Magdayao, this will be the first time that Cuenca and Magdayao to work with each other and with Panganiban and Ocampo. Cuenca plays Alejandro, a poor young man with medical qualification, Rubi will play him after thinking that he might be rich. Magdayao will play Maribel, a rich young woman with a disability who Rubi will befriends with due to her luxuries. For the second time around, Gardo Versoza and Cherie Gil plays as a couple after Katorse, they will play Maribel's parents. This will also remark Kaye Abad's first primetime series in exception of her guesting in May Bukas Pa. The show will also be joined by veteran actresses Malou de Guzman and Bing Loyzaga.

When Arturo found out about this, he was devastated, ran away and had an affair with a prostitute, Virginia. Sylvana has been suspicious of her husband, although after orphaning Rubi, who they have named Theresa, she coped with the suspicion without knowing that the child is indeed Arturo's daughter from another woman. After Theresa (Rubi) have been kidnapped and taken away by Virginia, Sylvana have decided with her husband to adopt another child, Maribel.
* Gardo Versoza as Arturo dela Fuente - Rubi's father. After having an affair with Virginia, who was a prostitute at that time, he accidentally got her pregnant. Arturo ran away from Virginia and the child, on the thought of being used for his money. He apparently have orphaned Rubi without telling Virginia when she was on jail, yet he still lost her after Virginia kidnapped and kept Rubi. Arturo was devastated and felt remorse for her wife, shich caused him to adopt another child, Maribel.
* Allan Paule as Danilo - a policeman who have kept and looked after Virginia for having a house arrest. Danilo have fallen for Virginia. When Virginia ran away from him, his mother died and caused him to get fired from his job leaving him angry and devastated. * Angelica Panganiban as Rubi Perez/ Theresa Rodrigo/dela Fuente [5] - Rubi is the type who will do whatever it takes in order to be rich and famous. For that to happen, she befriends an unsuspecting classmate who comes from a well-off family and uses that connection to achieve her evil schemes.
* Diether Ocampo as Hector [6] - He was supposed to take over his family’s thriving luxury liner business, but he defies his mother’s wishes by pursuing a career in medicine instead. He agrees to his mom’s choice of a bride.

But the fact that her adoptive parents have kept her pampered all her life has somehow compensated for her inferiority complex. But since he’s a close friend of Hector, Rubi mistakenly concludes that he’s also filthy rich which is why she sets her eyes on him first.

* Cherry Pie Picache as Virginia Rodrigo/ Rosanna "Rose" Perez - Rubi's mother. Martyr yet courageous. Virginia had a very poor life, doing everything to earn money for her dying mother. She has done literally everything, stealing, conning or being a prostitute where she met and got pregnant by Arturo bearing Rubi. As she was pregnant, she was sent to jail where she met Danilo who have helped her get back on her feet. After hiding from the police, Virginia changed her name to Rosanna (Rose for short).
* Cherie Gil[5] as Sylvana dela Fuente - Arturo's wife. Sylvana is infertile and is unable to bear a child. When Arturo found out about this, he was devastated, ran away and had an affair with a prostitute, Virginia. Sylvana has been suspicious of her husband, although after orphaning Rubi, who they have named Theresa, she coped with the suspicion without knowing that the child is indeed Arturo's daughter from another woman. After Theresa (Rubi) have been kidnapped and taken away by Virginia, Sylvana have decided with her husband to adopt another child, Maribel.
* Gardo Versoza[5] as Arturo dela Fuente - Rubi's father. After having an affair with Virginia, who was a prostitute at that time, he accidentally got her pregnant. Arturo ran away from Virginia and the child, on the thought of being used for his money. He apparently have orphaned Rubi without telling Virginia when she was on jail, yet he still lost her after Virginia kidnapped and kept Rubi. Arturo was devastated and felt remorse for her wife, shich caused him to adopt another child, Maribel.
* Allan Paule[5] as Danilo - a policeman who have kept and looked after Virginia for having a house arrest. Danilo have fallen for Virginia. When Virginia ran away from him, his mother died and caused him to get fired from his job leaving him angry and devastated. He looked for Virginia and threaten her, although his love for her have driven more than his anger.
* Kaye Abad as Princess Rodrigo/ Cristina Perez [10] - Virginia's younger sister and Rubi's aunt, when she was young, she lived a tough life with her sister due to lack of money. She was even once sent by her sister to an orphanage after Virginia was sent to jail and when their mother passed away, although Virginia managed to get her back. When hiding from the police, Virginia asked Princess to changed her name to Cristina, the same as their mother.
* Janus Del Prado as Wayne - Rubi's geeky friend who takes her to school. He basically became her slave.
* Susan Africa[4] as Yaya Pancha - trusted friend and the housekeeper of the Dela Fuente family. She seems very close to the family that they treat more than just a helper.

(lit. How much for your dignity?) is a Filipino daytime drama produced by ABS-CBN that premiered on January 25, 2010 this is the ninth installment of Sineserye Presents preceding the Nagsimula sa Puso.

Magkano Ang Iyong Dangal? was a 1989 film produced and released by Seiko Films. It starred Christopher De Leon as Paolo, Zsa Zsa Padilla as Era, and Joel Torre as Larry, with Jestoni Alarcon, Princess Punzalan, and Michael Locsin. It was written by Gilda Olvidado and directed by Laurice Guillen.

ABS-CBN bought Magkano Ang Iyong Dangal? in 2007 from Seiko Films as part of Sineserye Presents. The main role was first offered to Kris Aquino then later gave to Roxanne Guinoo.

In an November 2009 episode of SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon, the series was announced to star Roxanne Guinoo, Rayver Cruz, and Sid Lucero and to be directed by Chito Rono, with the tentative title Mahal Na Mahal Kita.

On ABS-CBN's Trade Show for 2010, it was announced that the final title is Magkano Ang Iyong Dangal? and it is a remake of the 1989 film with the same title.

On December 2009, the management decided to give the main role to Bangs Garcia, because of some unsettled issues with Guinoo.

Carmela is a self-sacrificing daughter whose first and only love is Nilo. In the beginning, a tragedy will befall upon Carmela, separating her from Nilo. But even distance will not stop them from loving each other. But fate will also bring their childhood friend Troy back into their lives, further complicating the relationship of the couple. Carmela will soon learn how far she would go in the name of love even it means to give up her honor.

* Sid Lucero as Nilo - Growing up with Dioning, who did nothing but blame him for every misfortune they encountered, Nilo learned to be self-reliant at an early age. Although he tends to be naughty and proud he’s also good in school and always gets high grades. Nilo is ambitious and he yearns to be rich so that he could be a good provider to his family; so he would not have to depend on other people again. His one true love is Carmela. From Carmela he will realize the real meaning of love that it is just about fulfilling the other person’s dreams. Love is giving that other person your whole self without inhibitions.

The series premiered on January 11, 2010 on the 6 PM (Philippine time) Primetime Bida block of ABS-CBN. The series is also being shown throughout the world by The Filipino Channel and TFC Now.

Casting

For the second time around, Erich Gonzales gets her main character role as Fina on the much-awaited teleserye, Tanging Yaman. Gonzales will also be reunited with her co-stars from Katorse, her previous hit show, where she got her first starring role as Nene, a young woman who got pregnant at the age of Fourteen, which rose her to stardom. Katorse co-stars, Ejay Falcon and Enchong Dee reunites with Gonzales where they are again playing love-triangle characters. However their roles are different from the previous, Falcon plays Epi, Fina's best friend who is joyful and a joker while Dee plays Jomari, a rich goodlooking man who will meet the poor Fina. He is incredibly aloof to her, while Fina is in love with him.The show will also be joined by Kambal sa Uma stars, Melissa Ricks and Matt Evans. Ricks plays Isabel the villainous rival of Gonzales' character while Evans plays her bodyguard who is in love with her.

From another triumphant show, Tayong Dalawa, veteran actors Agot Isidro, Mylene Dizon, and Jodi Sta. Maria will also join the cast of Tanging Yaman.First time acting for a primetime series, director and actor Rowell Santiago will play as Juan Policarpio, the fire man turned 'future president' of the Republic of the Philippines.Same as Santiago, it is also veteran actor Leo Martinez's first primetime series. Plot

Tanging Yaman tells a story is rooted on an incident that will wreck the life and fortune of two families. One family will prosper and the other will suffer. Fina (Erich Gonzales) is with her sister named Marina (Jodi Sta. Maria) will grow up in poverty whereas Isabel (Melissa Ricks) will be raised as the first daughter of the country. Fina resumes the responsibilities and privileges alongside being the daughter of the president. Things won’t be easy for Fina, as she unites with her biological parents; she has to deal with Isabel and her mother Leona who wants her position in the first family.Fina has a crush on a guy named Jomari (Enchong Dee)

Synopsis

In the midst of a burning hospital, Marcela accidentally gives birth to a baby girl; but unfortunately, she fails to get a hold of her child after Marina took the said kid by mistake. Incidentally, Marina’s mother also gave birth in the said hospital. Since the child was lying beside her dead mother, she thought that she is no other than her newly born sister, so she instantly grabs her to safety. With great longing, Marcela asks her brother-in-law Emil to look for her newborn child; and unfortunately, the said event leads to his rather untimely death, thus leaving Leona a widow, and her daughter without a father. Thinking that Juan was actually the person who saved his and his wife’s lives in the midst of the burning hospital, Congressman Solomon Buenavista immediately decides to show his gratitude to the so called hero. Without hesitation, he awards Juan a brand new house together with a promise that he will do everything he can to save him from the hands of poverty. In contrast, Marina and her baby sister Fina suffer the worst luck in the world. Aside from being instant orphans, they also end up under the care of a rather foster father.

Now that Juan’s popularity is rampantly growing amongst the masses, Sol who happens to be an aspiring successful politician finally decides to take his game up a notch. In order to once and for all fulfill his dream of being one of the successful politicians in the country, he convinces Juan—who was then a senator—to run for presidency, with him as his running mate. And just as Sol expected, their tandem is immediately grasped by the voters, thus making the former fireman from the province’s family the country’s first family. Just as the voting public expected, Juan turns out to be the ideal president of the country. Despite the enormous power laid on his hands, he manages to stay humble and kind at all times. On the other hand, Fina and Isabel’s paths meet once again. Apparently, both of them got accepted at State University; and from there, their eventful story officially begins.

(lit. If We Will Be Separated) is an upcoming Philippine primetime drama series broadcast on ABS-CBN. This drama is one of ABS-CBN's special offerings for the 60th Year of Philippine Soap Opera.

Production

On July 2009, in an interview in the Philippine talk show, The Buzz, Kris Aquino revealed that she will be starring a primetime drama series together with Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson. The series was suppose to be Robin Padilla's come back show to ABS-CBN, but he then turned the offer down. Production started October 2009.

The locations were in different parts of Luzon. According to Aquino, they shot scenes in Zambales, Marikina, and Manila.

On November 25, 2009, ABS-CBN released a teaser via their official YouTube account. It revealed the complete cast and characters. Then, on December 27, 2009, ABS-CBN finally released its first full trailer during The Buzz, where it showed its release date which is January 18, 2010.

* Kris Aquino as Celine J. Crisanto - A perfectionist mother. She always wants Gwen to be perfect. That's why Gwen hates her. Her mother dies after she knew Celine is pregnant and the father was Steve. She's the wife of Frank. But Frank has a mistress.

* Gina Pareño as Petulah R. Crisanto- Frank's protective mother. She loves Frank so much that she will do anything for him. She corrects every mistake Celine, Frank, or Gwen does.
* Jacklyn Jose as Astrud N. Domingo - The mistress of Frank. She takes Gwen away from Celine so that Gwen would love her more as a mother and because she can't take Frank away from Celine.
* Maricar Reyes as Selena Sebastian - Elder sister of Robbie. She marries Steve.
* Maxene Eigennman as Alicia Magdalena - A boyish policewoman who finds herself in love with Robbie. But Robbie doesn't love her.

The more the housemates say no, the more Big Utol insists!

As a following to Paul Jake, Cathy and Sam's trips to the confession room, the rest of the housemates were also invited to visit Big Utol for some more suprise gifts. The first one of the second lot to go was Jason and boy, was he in a for a ride. Big Utol ordered him something that required a bit of his acting skills. "Gusto ko nakasimangot ka pero nakangiti pa rin (I want you frowning yet smiling)," he instructed. Jason seemed appalled with the request and at first denied Big Utol the favor, saying "Hindi ako magaling mag-artista, eh (But I'm not in acting!)." But hey, nobody - and by that, it really means nobody - refuses Big Utol thus Jason still managed to showcase a cross between a sad but goofy face. What a task!

Up next for the thrilling adventure to the confession room was Melai. Known for her fear of dogs, Big Utol fooled around by greeting her with the sound of a barking dog as she entered the dark room. Melai, of course, went berserk on instinct and even fell down onto the floor because of anxiousness! And to add to the amusement, Big Utol playfully teased Melai about asking her to fetch the Doberman that he sent in that was tied to the bike by the pool. Poor cynophobic Melai was already in tears as she continously cried out "Maawa ka, Big Utol (Have mercy, Big Utol)." To her relief, she was let out by Big Utol whose main purpose was just to give "excitement" to Melai.

Kath was also invited by Big Utol and since she already knew what was going to happen in the confession room, she was already upon her entrance. As soon as she saw the darkness of the room, she started crying and yelled at Big Utol that she didn't want to come in! But Big Utol was still insistent and was able to "bribe" Kath into the room by saying that he won't do anything that would scare her. But as fate would have it, a movement made under cloth that covered the container just in front of where Kath sat made her run all the way to the living room, away from whatever was Big Utol's surprise gift!

Because of Kath's runaway, Johan came in next as requested by Big Utol. His task was to make Kath befriend the little furry animal Big Utol prepared for her. Imagine the difficulty of chasing Kath, who immediately sprinted into the girls' room upon seeing him with the cage walking towards her! But with the teamwork of the housemates, Kath managed to wave hi to the black fat rat which was - thank heavens! - stored securely inside its cage.

Oh, looks like Big Utol's never going to run out of mischief! Will the housemates survive him? Let's see about that by watching PBB Double Up every night!

Don’t mess with Big Utol
Yesterday’s “Drive Through” game uber had the housemates gorging on an unexpected feast – on a time limit, though. Melai and Jason were partners, and the two thought they could put one over Big Utol by stuffing Melai’s shirt with some fries. They also had a little game of their own, apart from the rest of the housemates. Both did not go unnoticed, and to the duo’s surprise, they found themselves alone in the activity area to deal with Big Utol’s brand of punishment.

Jason and Paul Jake could very well attest to Big Utol’s crazy ideas. The two were called in the dark Confession Room (think the stereotypical police interrogation scene)and were reminded of their New Year violation. As if the restrooms were a long way off, the two decided to pee on the walls instead. To teach them a lesson, the two were made to wear diapers for a full day. On top of this, they could not take a bath and also had to finish a gallon of water. HOH Paul Jake was proud that he was ahead in drinking, though he instantly regretted it when he could not stop himself from making good use of the diaper he was wearing. Seems like being the Head of House means nil to Big Utol, huh?

Melai followed Big Utol’s lead and gave Jason a dose of his own medicine. Up to his usual pranks, Jason crept up on Melai and bothered her as she was praying the rosary. Melai retaliated soon after with a healthy serving of spanking and reprimands. Shhe finally finished it off by lying in wait for Jason to open the door, where she jumped out and had him yelping in surprise. All’s fair in love and pranks, right, Jason?

Today’s game was “Iputok Mo, Tatapusin Ko”, where each housemate had a balloon tied to one leg. The object of the game was to keep your own balloon safe and pop the other teams’. In the end, Johan and Hermes were left on the floor as Cathy looks on. Incidentally, Hermes talked to Cathy earlier for some heart-to-heart. He poured out his feelings to her and confessed that he was affected by the way she chose Johan over him, and had he had the talent, would have volunteered to sing with her in a heartbeat. For the game uber, at least, Hermes wins over Johan and he celebrated the win with his team.

Big Utol certainly has his own way of reaching into the housemates, doesn’t he? Just last night, he hosted a drinking session which had the housemates showing another side of them. The girls went wild, with Kath in a daze. Melai had to be helped out by Jason, while Mariel had to assisted by several housemates. She was so out of it that she began hitting others already. So numb was she that she had to be bitten to get back some sense of feeling. Good thing they’ve already formed a bond, and no one took it against her. Only Sam seemed to be in total control of herself, even getting enough strength to lend a helping hand to the boys. A new view of the house señorita, or a ploy to escape eviction?

Banana Split is a comedy gag show broadcast in ABS-CBN every Saturday evening featuring Angelica Panganiban, RR Enriquez, the Parekoy main cast: Jason Gainza, Zanjoe Marudo and John Prats, and comedians Pokwang and Pooh.

The season 1 finale was on February 21, 2009, followed the premiere of Season 2 on February 28, 2009 of the following saturday. Then it returned on its new season (Season 3) on April 18, 2009 with new cast. However due to positive feedback of the said show, the show is now on Season 4 already last July 18, 2009.Starting September 28, 2009, a 30 minute version has been airing every weekday afternoon, entitled Banana Split: Daily Servings, as part of the Haponstatic block and a month long anniversary presentation.

Banana Split Girls Roxanne Guinoo, Cristine Reyes, Angelica Panganiban, Valerie Concepcion and RR Herrera. Banana Split is the female version of Goin’ Bananas, the popular ’80s gag show that starred Christopher de Leon, Johnny Delgado, Edgar Mortiz and the late Jay Ilagan. The scriptwriters of Banana Split consist of the same writers, who worked in Goin’ Bananas, Tropang Trumpo and Goin’ Bulilit. Banana Split Girls Cast are not just sexy girls but are touted to be good actresses as well. At first Banana Split got a negative reaction mainly because of its allegedly suggestive concept, and that it mainly targets the male audience. Director Edgar “Bobot” Mortiz denies it was conceptualized as such, “Hindi sila komedyante dito, kundi actors sila doing comedy. So maipapakita nila ‘yung talent nila hindi bilang komedyante kundi ang magpapatawa dito ‘yung script namin.

Program casting

Kristine Hermosa, Bangs Garcia, Riza Santos and Anne Curtis were originally selected as members of the cast, however, due to schedule conflicts of the selected actresses (Hermosa for Komiks Presents: Mars Ravelo's Nasaan Ka Maruja?, Garcia for Palos and Curtis for Dyosa) and Santos due to issues rift between her and Ruffa Gutierrez on the I Love Betty La Fea taping set, only Valerie Concepcion was left as an original member of the cast until replaced by Panganiban, Guinoo and Reyes. Despite the heavy schedule of the selected actresses (except Riza) who only appeared twice, in the episodes guesting Zanjoe Marudo and Diether Ocampo.

Gay kiss issue

During the December 6, 2008 episode involving Rafael Rosell along with other coverboys Jon Avila and Will Devaughn due to the practical joke segment (a dating game format) attempting kissing an a extra gay instead of Banana Split girls causing a rift between Rafael and a Banana Split executive producer. Instead the whole scene except some few clips during the taping was not shown with a public apology during the end of the show

Casting cut-out

Valerie Concepcion, Roxanne Guinoo and Dianne Medina left the show due to the upcoming Precious Hearts Romances collection in different episodes despite the show main cast, it was reported that Roxanne was removed from the show due to weight problems which was why she was not shown in the season finale while Valerie left the show due to a talent fee dispute. Another issue is the rift between Angelica and Cristine involving disagreement of the said show, however these issues are not true.

Additional casting

The additional cast includes John Prats, Zanjoe Marudo, Jayson Gainza, Pooh and Pokwang are now part of the second season starting April 18, 2009. There were no guests during the first episode of the season.

Cristine Reyes conflict

Cristine Reyes was said to have walked out of the taping of the show, but confirms that she only left the shooting of the Hayden-Katrina spoof because she doesn't want Halili to think that she was 'laughing' at her and rift tensions between Angelica Panganiban, RR Enriquez and Pokwang until replaced by Nina Jose. But recently during the ABS-CBN Trade launch both Cristine, Angelica, Pokwang except RR are all reconciled each other.

Katorse (lit. Fourteen) is a television primetime series that started airing on August 24, 2009 on ABS-CBN. It tells the story of a simple provinciana who fell in love with a man and later figured out that she is about to become a teenage mother. It is loosely based on the 1981 film starring Dina Bonnevie, Gabby Concepcion and Alfie Anido.

Casting

The show stars 2005 Star Circle Grand Questor, Erich Gonzales, as teenage mom, Nene. This is Gonzales' very first starring role in a primetime program. The program also showcases showbiz newbies Ejay Falcon and Xian Lim in their first starring role in a primetime series. ABS-CBN picked the cast because they believe that primetime television needs to have new faces, to make it look fresh and better than the usual actors.

In early July 2009, ABS-CBN released the program's trailer, which revealed the cast of Katorse to include veteran actors Malou de Guzman (as Nene's mother) and Cherie Gil as Gabby's mother, where she plays a less villainous role. Cherie Gil and Erich Gonzales have previously worked together before in Pieta. Ms. Gil saw a lot of potential with Erich and believes that she will go far more on the showbiz industry.

Sometime in August 2009, the management added Enchong Dee as an additional main cast.

1981 Film

The original Katorse starred Dina Bonnevie which launched her to stardom back in the early ’80’s. With Gabby Concepcion as Gabby and the late Alfie Anido as Albert. Katorse is known for the trademark “magic kamison” wherein the usually young lead star dons a sexy top which would look even sexier when the star goes for a swim because of the wet look. Although, there is no third man in the film, ABS-CBN management added Enchong Dee for the third pair.[4]

Story and Development

Synopsis

Nene, an ordinary barrio lass whose life is about to change with the arrival of her childhood friends Albert and Gabby during one fateful summer. With two guys vying for her attention, Nene embarks on a romantic adventure that turns into a disaster as she faces an unwanted pregnancy. Nene also discovers a whole lot of troubles involving her family.

Plot

Fourteen year-old Nene grows excited of her childhood friend Gabby’s upcoming arrival in the hacienda. It seems that during their younger years, the lad had actually promised to marry her, and she has been waiting for him to come back and fulfill his promise ever since. On the other hand, Gabby seems to be awfully annoyed with the thought of going back home for the summer because he is looking forward to spend it with Marissa; but after the latter relentlessly pushed him to go back home, he then decides to submit to his father’s political desires. After sharing an intimate kiss with Nene, Gabby tells her that he loves the naive young lady. The very next day, he starts to continuously sweep Nene off her feet up until he actually convinces her to be his girlfriend. One night, he invites the young lady back in their house to spend sometime inside his room. And while they are in the middle of a lip-lock, Gabby’s mother surprisingly walks in on them.

On Nene’s way out, Gabby’s mother chases after her to send out a warning with regard to her rather unacceptable affair with her son. Nene tells Gabby that his mother doesn’t like her for him. Immediately, he comforts the poor young lady while telling that everything will soon be okay. The next day, Nene fulfills her responsibility as Reyna Elena as she parades all over town with her escort, Gabby. After the said event, the two escape the set after party to proceed to their secret hideout; and there they end up spending an intimate night together. Gabby catches his brother Albert kissing the love of his life Marissa, so he immediately engages in a fist fight with the lad. There, he learns about the two’s romantic link, which further enrages him. While pondering about his new discovery, Nene surprisingly comes his way. The young lady tries cheering up the lad; but instead of receiving a positive response, Nene ends up totally devastated because Gabby has suddenly decided to break up with her.

After learning about Nenita’s mischief in Manila as she works herself off to support the young lady’s studies, Nena simply couldn’t help but enrage in anger. Immediately, she drags eldest daughter back to their province. On the other hand, behind Nena’s knowledge, another dilemma awaits her. Nene discovers that she is pregnant with Gabby’s baby, and she gladly tells this to the lad; but to Nene’s dismay, upon hearing of the said news, Gabby instantly yells at her with disbelief.

Despite the pregnancy test kit’s bold confirmation, Gabby fails to believe the truth behind Nene’s untimely child expectancy; he persistently claims that he has no intention to take responsibility of the latter’s child. After hearing his own mother’s threat regarding early parenthood, Gabby chooses to run away. On the other hand, Nene finally decides to admit her current situation to her mother, despite Nenita’s persistent refusal.

Gabby receive's bad thought from his brother and mother upon confrontation the night after their deal with Nene's family. Gabby made an idea that he wanted to win again the heart of the young lady so that his family wouldn't said any bad thought to him. The day after he went to Nene's house bringing his peace offering; Teddy Bear, Balloon and Chocolates at first Nene doesn't believe but then after he saw the love of Gabby from Gabby's surprise to Nene an "I love you" made of roses, Nene was in love again with Gabby. Gabby decided to let Nene stay at their home yet despite of their families approval Gabby's mother Margaruita had some disapproval within this issue.

Soundtrack

The program's themesong, especially for Gabby and Nene, is titled "Tamis ng Unang Halik" ("Sweetness of First Kiss") sung by Juris of MYMP originally done by Cristina Paner. The song "My Love is Here" sung by Erik Santos is also featured in the show as a themesong for Jojo and Nene.

Postponement

The show was originally scheduled to air in early June 8, 2009, but was postponed as the producers reported having encountered shooting problems because of the weather. Because of this, the management have decided to replace Katorse's timeslot with The Wedding, a romantic-comedy series starring Anne Curtis, Derek Ramsay and Zanjoe Marudo.

Teenage pregnancy issue

MTRCB has shown concerns due to the show's main theme, about teenage pregnancy. They claim that this matter is to be taken serisouly and can easily influence viewers. They also referred to The Wedding, another program by ABS-CBN in which the character of Hiyasmin Neri have become pregnant at a young age. MTRCB proclaim that these shows are making teenage pregnancy a stereotype on everyday lives. Although frowned upon, MTRCB have decided that they will take a closer look on these shows

Popularity in the Philippines

ABS-CBN aired the series on its international broadcast arm The Filipino Channel in 2007, making it the first non-Philippine produced live action drama series to air on the channel. Beginning February 11, 2008, ABS-CBN included the series on its online video on demand service, making it the first non-Philippine produced series to be made available through the service and both became successful.

Casting

This is considered to be the first primetime teleserye of KC Concepcion, playing the role of Vivian, a young woman who has a dream to become a director in Paris. It also showcases her first team-up with the Philippine hearthrob Piolo Pascual who will play Carlo. Other stars include Zanjoe Marudo as Martin, who will act as the third party and would distract the relationship of Carlo and Vivian; veteran actors Christopher de Leon, Mark Gil and Assunta de Rossi. Story and development
Plot

The much anticipated Koreanovela remake of 2009 featuring Piolo Pascual, KC Concepcion and Zanjoe Marudo, Lovers in Paris follows the story of three people who will discover the complexities of love. For Carlo, love is but a responsibility. For Vivian, love is the greatest thing to give and to receive. For Martin, love is self-gratification. Despite their different views, these three will learn go through a life-changing experience when their paths cross in Paris. Just when they thought they have found the right love at the perfect place, they will all realize that it’s not yet the perfect time. Will there be a second chance for Carlo, Vivian, and Martin?

Synopsis

After her father died, Vivian fulfills her father’s greatest dream; she pursues film studies in Paris. To keep up with her expenses, and help out her family back in the Philippines, she also takes part time jobs. In her hotel job, she unexpectedly gets locked up inside the function room. The following morning, Carlo accidentally finds her sleeping under the table, thus causing her immediate dismissal. To make matters worse for her, she learns back in her apartment that her landlady locked up her pad due to her inability to pay the rent. Vivian gets a new job after bumping into a Filipino in Paris. Incidentally, the said man is looking for a housemaid for his boss; and upon learning this Vivian immediately volunteers to take the job. To keep her new source of income, Vivian tries to be as creative as possible to impress her still unidentified boss; but unfortunately, instead of gaining her superior’s confidence, she ends up getting into his nerves, thus causing her immediate dismissal.

To close the deal with his most important client through the latter’s Pampangueña wife, Carlo decides to ask for his former housemaid’s help. In exchange for her company during his trip to Nice, Carlo says he is willing to pay all her debts and give back the job he had taken away from her. Upon learning all the perks up for grabs, Vivian gladly agrees to take his rather wonderful offer. Surprisingly, Carlo’s plan works perfectly well; with Vivian posing as his fiancé, his dinner with his prospected client’s wife turns out to be a blast.

Upon returning from her trip with Carlo, Vivian is left locked out of her apartment after her spare key went missing. Carlo realizes her situation, so he decides let the young lady spend a night in his home. The next day, Vivian accidentally meets Martin on her way to sell the dress Carlo gave her. The lad gladly helps her to sell the dress for a better price. Unfortunately, their meeting is immediately cut short after she realized that her expensive necklace has gone missing. Karen pays Carlo, her ex-husband, a surprise visit. Surprisingly, it has been exactly 2 years since their divorce; quite an unusual occasion to celebrate over dinner. On the other hand, Carlo is in need of Vivian’s company once again, so he tries to bargain with her. The next day, he purposely leaves the dress and the jewelry she will be wearing for the said event in his house; thus leaving the young lady rather tempted to wear them. And while fancying over the said stuff, Vivian is caught in surprise to find Karen staring at her.

The themesong of the show is "Wag na Wag Mong Sasabihin" (Translation: "Never ever say") which is the same song used in the Tagalog-dubbed original version of Lovers in Paris. On the original, Kitchie Nadal sang the themesong, however on the remake, the show's lead actors, KC Concepcion and Piolo Pascual took the liberty to sing the show's themesong.

The show premiered on August 24, 2009. Dahil May Isang Ikaw tells the tale of two families, whose fates intertwine with one another, creating a rather complicated love story between two brothers and two sisters.

Casting

Plot

Tessa Ramirez (Lorna Tolentino) is a great and well-respected lawyer who has won every case she took, particularly child abuse cases. However, the agony in searching for her lost daughter is her greatest fight. Before attaining success in life, she was once a faithful and loving partner of Jaime Alferos (Gabby Concepcion) during college way back in 1980. Jaime had promised Tessa that they will get married once he comes back from a six-month stay in the States for academics, however one day, Jaime's mother (Alicia Alonso) told Tessa that Jaime is committed to an affair with another lady. Tessa called Jaime but the phone call was received by Patricia Aragon (Chin-Chin Gutierrez), who confirmed the relationship. Tessa is pregnant at that time. Daniel Ramirez (John Estrada) is a friend who secretly loves Tessa. He will do anything that will please Tessa and in fact, he stand as husband and father of the child.

In an unexpected situation, Tessa's daughter Melissa was kidnapped by a syndicate whose motives is to raise babies to be laborers. Daniel was taking baby Melissa to see her pediatrician, when he was suddenly held at gunpoint by a man demanding he hand over the baby or be killed. Tessa greatly blamed Daniel when she discovered he lost her daughter.

In an effort to make things up to Tessa, Daniel promises to put her through law school, which is her most cherished dream. To support her, he turns to a life of crime. One day while robbing a bank, his heist partner is killed after shooting a bank customer during a scuffle. The customer turns out to be a brother of a government official, and because his killer is already dead, Daniel is detained for his murder.

A young girl who has simple dream, to be loved by her mother, that is Ella (Mika dela Cruz later to be Kristine Hermosa). As she tried to make her dream come true by dropping a bended one peso coin to the river however, it was caught by a sailing vessel instead. She saw a young boy, Miguel (Paul Salas later to be Jericho Rosales) who secretly boarded that ship, and ask him to drop the coin to the water but young Miguel didn't hear it clearly. Both of them were caught, Miguel by a fisherman forcibly asking him to get down immediately and Ella by her mother while punishing her because of stealing the one peso coin.

Here comes young Pip (Nash Aguas later to be Sid Lucero) who stole a lady's handbag due to starvation. Pip has been influenced by his biological father before. Young Miguel advised his half brother (not by blood) not to do it anymore.

A small world where these three younglings are destined to meet each other.

Synopsis

Angel is about to face her mother’s beating, so she tries making a wish on a river by throwing her last coin on it. Incidentally her lucky coin falls on the boat where Miguel is in so her wish fails to come true. On her way to make everything up to her mother, she tries producing money in exchange of the other one that accidentally got lost; but unfortunately, on her way home, a boy snatches her cash, thus infuriating her mother once more; to the extent that the latter finally pushes her out of their abode. While obliviously walking along the street, Angel bumps into Miguel and her robber once again. Though reluctant at first, Miguel finally decides to take in the poor homeless girl in their small makeshift shelter. In line with his birthday celebration, Pip steals a cake from a nearby bakery; but unfortunately, his misdeed leads the authorities to raid their shanty. On their way to escape from the authorities, Angel gets left behind as she tries chasing her cap with directions going to Miguel’s so called flower paradise; and sadly, she gets hit by Jaime’s car upon retrieving her lost item. On the other hand, Pip is detained in prison, thus leaving Miguel pleading for Tessa’s help in order to get him out.

To Denise and Patricia’s surprise, Jaime brings Angel home. Upon learning this, Denise immediately feels envious of the newly arrived, so she persistently treats her very badly; she even throws away Angel’s cap where Miguel left the address of the park where they are supposed to meet up. On the day of Don Fernando’s party, Angel surprisingly pleases the mean old man, thus making Denise even more furious; but after Angela helped her out with Jaime, Denise decides to finally make friends with her. On the other hand, after fixing up Pip’s case, Miguel too finds a new home for him and his brother under Tessa’s care. Angel and Miguel are now grown ups, but both of them are still persistent to find each other. No matter how hard they try, they just can’t seem to find a way to cross paths; but despite fate’s trick on them, chance seems to have its own way to bring them back together. On their way to apply for the BAR Exam, Angel, now known as Ella, accidentally bumps into Miguel; but unfortunately, though they are already standing side by side, the two fails to recognize each other.

The list of the BAR Exam passers is finally released; Miguel successfully fills in the number one slot as Ella fills in the number 2 position. After gaining the necessary title, despite Tessa’s rather blinding offer, Miguel decides on working as a public attorney instead. And since her son turned down her offer, Tessa tries opening a window for Ella to fulfill her dream of working in her firm. Few hours before the oath taking itself, Tessa gives Ella a call for an interview. Being the top two BAR passers, Miguel and Ella were set to sit side by side on their oath taking ceremony. On the said event, the two finally got a chance to introduce themselves to one another and have a short chat. Surprisingly, aside from Ella and Miguel’s, the said occasion gives way to another rather unexpected reunion; Jaime, Patricia and Tessa’s. On the other hand, Patricia purposely sets her adopted daughter Ella on another interview in order to make her miss her appointment with Tessa, which Jaime immediately agrees on. Ella finally submits to her parents’ desires; but in line with her dream, she still gives Tessa’s law firm a shot after finishing off her interview with the other law firm she applied in.

In exchange for her requested interview, Ella is dared by Tessa’s partner to go in search for a very important witness named Bryan Lorenzo; and on the said mission, she accidentally bumps into Alfred. Surprisingly, she ends up acquiring necessary information regarding the said person just as Tessa commanded, thus immediately earning her a position in Tessa’s company; but unfortunately, the said news fails to thrill her family as much as it thrilled her.

May Bukas Pa (literal meaning of "There Is Still Tomorrow", which actually means "There Is Still Hope") is a Philippine drama series which started airing on February 2, 2009 at ABS-CBN. It is loosely based on the 1955 Spanish film The Miracle of Marcelino (Marcelino Pan y Vino).

Production

Most of the scenes in May Bukas Pa are taped in the 4th class municipality of Bacolor, Pampanga. This includes its municipal hall, bank, public market and its church (San Guillermo Parish Church) which creates the fictional town of "Bagong Pag-asa."

Plot

Set in the fictional town of Bagong Pag-asa (Filipino for "New Hope"), the story revolves around Santino (Zaijan Jaranilla), an orphan abandoned as a baby in a graveyard where he was found by the old sexton. The sexton brought the baby to the priests of the nearby monastery. The priests raised the child, and Santino grew into an adventurous young boy.

As Santino wandered one day into the cemetery, he found a dirty statue of Jesus Christ, standing with arms wide open. Santino noticed the wounds on the palms and feet of the statue (a reference to the Holy Wounds into which the nails bore through during the Crucifixion). Remarking that Jesus was hurt, Santino takes the monastery's first aid supplies and used them to treat the statue's wounds. The statue came to life and becomes Santino's friend and confidant. Santino affectionately calls Jesus the modern nickname, "Bro" (short for brother).

When Santino's friend Joy (Phebe Khae Arbotante) turns ill and dying, he seeks the mercy of Bro, and prayed for a miracle to continue Joy's life. Bro then bestows Santino the power to heal sick and disabled people. The priests and Joy's parents, a couple who work as cops, witnessed Santino praying for the miracle which immediately healed Joy. The news of the miracle was heard across town. People who sought healing for their illnesses and disabilities came to the monastery and Santino heals them one after another.

The new town mayor, Enrique Rodrigo/Gonzalvo Policarpio (Albert Martinez), lusting for money, drives him to claim the land where the monastery stands, on where he could build a casino. He starts by attempting to put the monastery to bankruptcy. He sends mercenaries to rob the church's funds and destroy the monastery's farm. Although he diminished the monastery's financial resources, the townspeople offered aid to the priests after discovering their loss.

Enrique then hears about Santino's ability to heal people. Believing that Santino brings luck to the monastery, he starts his plan to take him away from the priests by sending social workers to assess the boy's condition in the monastery. Enrique made them believe that the priests were abusing Santino by forcing him to heal people. Worsening the events, a jail escapee kidnaps Santino in order to heal his sick child. After Santino was rescued from the kidnapper, the social workers decided that the monastery is unfit for Santino to live in, and he was taken away from the monastery. He was brought to an orphanage where he would be waiting for parents to adopt him.

A couple comes to the orphanage planning to adopt Santino. Santino overhears the husband telling his wife about his plan of using Santino to earn money by healing rich people with illnesses. Santino then flees from the orphanage and rode inside a vegetable delivery truck. He then arrives in another town, where he finds care from Berting Aragon (Robert Arevalo), a puto vendor. Santino befriends Berting's biological granddaughter, whose father, Jojo, loathed Berting for leaving him and his mother for another woman, years ago.

Meanwhile, Enrique sends mercenaries to find Santino. They find the boy and attempt to abduct him, but he was rescued by Jojo, who was stabbed and was rushed to the hospital. There he realized Berting's fatherly love for him, and with Santino's help, Berting and Jojo reconciled. Jojo then drives Santino back to the monastery in Bagong Pag-asa. The custody of Santino was returned to the priests.

* Zaijan Jaranilla as Gabriel Santino M. Rodrigo/Policarpio - A kind-hearted and clever 7-year old boy. Longing for the love of his real mother, he finds a friend in the person of "Bro" (Jesus Christ), who helps him change the lives of the people in their town. Known for his healing powers. He is Enrique and Teresa's biological son, unknown to both Santino and Enrique.

* Albert Martinez as Mayor Enrique D. Rodrigo/ Gonzalvo Policarpio - The mayor of Bagong Pag-asa. His lust for wealth and power will drive him to do illegal acts. He never treats Stella as his real daughter; it is revealed later on that Enrique is, in fact, not her biological father. He is Santino's biological father, and he later gives in, developing a sense of compassion for the boy. Later on in the story, he is actually the child of the couple who was killed when Doña Anita was taking over the land he was living on before.

* Dina Bonnevie as Malena Rodriguez-Rodrigo/Policarpio - The wife of Enrique. She will do everything to prove her love for her husband. Coming from a wealthy family, Malena envied her sister Selda's intelligence and love with Mario, for she loved him too. This pushed her to commit wrong deeds. Underneath her beauty and glamor is a dark secret that continues to haunt her: she is the only one who knows Santino's biological mother. It was later revealed in a flashback that she accidentally killed Santino's mother. She is initially mistaken to be Santino's mother. She is the only one who can prove that Santino is indeed Enrique's son with Teresa.

* Tonton Gutierrez as Mario Sta. Maria - A policeman whose terminally-ill daughter Joy was miraculously healed by Santino. He is Malena's ex-lover and, Stella's father. He, however, was dismissed from service for alleged insubordination and absence without leave, but resumed with the help of Mayor Enrique.

* Maja Salvador as Stella R. Sta. Maria - The obedient daughter of Enrique and Malena. She treats Santino as her younger brother. It is revealed that her biological father is Mario. She was once the girlfriend of Cocoy. She later leaves her parents for their differences, and moves in with Selda and Mario's. Stella went to the States but has now returned together with her grandmother.

* Rayver Cruz as Cocoy - An orphaned young man who works as an assistant at the monastery. He was previously detained several times for petty crimes. He is currently in a relationship with Stella, but they both broke up when Stella asked to, and further distanced away when Stella was sent to the US.

* Dominic Ochoa as Father Jose - Serves as the cook in the monastery. Santino considers him to be a father-figure. It was revealed by Enrique that he had a wife and a child who were killed in a car accident years prior to the setting, and Father Jose was the one blamed for their deaths.

* Desiree del Valle as Matilde/ Tilde - The mayor's secret girlfriend, who works as a prostitute. She helps in executing the mayor's orders in threatening Santino and the priests. Mayor's mistress.

* Precious Lara Quigaman as Selda Rodriguez-Sta. Maria - The wife of Mario, the mother of Joy, and the younger sister of Malena. She works as a policewoman. Santino looks up to her as a mother-figure. Along with her sister Malena, she also came from a rich family but she gave up her lifestyle in order to be with her lover, Mario.

* Lito Pimentel as Father Gregorio/ "Ringo" - A priest who left his life of parties and music to become a priest. His true past was revealed when Enrique was uncovering the dirty secrets of the monastery's priests. Father Ringo was an ex-convict for theft, and his calling to the priesthood came when he served as a sacristan during his time in prison. He is called 'Ringo' because he is the one who rings the church bells.

* Jaime Fabregas as Father Anthony - The chief administrator of the monastery. Underneath his strictness lies his love for Santino.

* An unidentified actor as "Bro" (Jesus Christ) - Santino's Friend and Confidant, and the source of his healing powers. It is to Him that Santino runs to for help or consolation. He appears to Santino from the statue in the cemetery. His face is never revealed whenever He is seen talking with Santino; camera shots of Him consist mostly of those from behind the back, or from the chest downwards or with the face obscured in some other manner.

Her sister has seek comfort from him after running away from her wedding day, after being pushed to marry a man she doesn't love.

They normally always rush in Baby's shop to tell gossip, but most of the time being told by Atong to "Layas!", which means, "Go away!".

Chapter Two: Remorse

Santino was kidnapped by an unknown man in the middle of the night. It was later revealed that this man is Olegario Pineda, a criminal who Mario have imprisoned years ago. Mario suspects that Olegario kidnapped Santino to take revenge, however, this is not the real reason. As the two journeys to an unknown location, Olegario tells Santino that he needs him to heal his son who has a brain tumor allowing his son to only have a shorter life. Olegario and santino successfully made it to town of Sta. Maria where Santino could finally heal Olegario's son. In these events, Olegario was taken over by the police as they arrive, he was numerously shot by another policeman even though Santino begs that he is a good person. Later, Santino grants his promise to Olegario that he would heal his son.

* John Estrada as Olegario "Oleg" Pineda - a prison escapee who kidnaps Santino in hopes for a miracle to heal his seriously illed son. He later befriends with Santino in their way to Olegario's home. He then later surrenders himself to the police, but is unfortunately killed.
* Kimberly Diaz as Olegario's wife. She went to Santino in wish to heal their son, however, the court have forbidden Santino to heal people, due to the suspecting of this as a scam.

Chapter Three: Forgiveness

Meanwhile, after being held in an orphanage, Santino runs away after learning that a couple would want to take him just to make money on his healing abilities. As Santino runs away, he meets Lolo Berting, a puto vendor who helped him find his way home. As Santino lives with Lolo Berting, Santino slowly learns that Berting has mysteries of his own. His son, Jojo, has despised him for leaving him and his mother alone till his mother dies. Santino then makes Berting's son to realize that he has to forgive his father because everyone also needs to be forgiven.

* Robert Arevalo as Berting - a puto vendor who helped Santino when he was lost after running away from the shelter. His son has forbidden him from his life as it caused his mother to die. He comes around his son's house secretly and gives puto to his granddaughter, Bea.
* Richard Quan as Jojo - Berting's son, who has forgiven his father after Santino makes him realize that other people also needs to be forgiven. He also knows martial arts as he thought that after his father left him, he should learn how to protect himself. He helped Santino from being taken by Mayor's allies.

* Elmer Pitpitan as Alfred - Peter and Minerva's son. He ran away from after discovering that his parents are getting a divorce. He ended up in the monastery where he met Santino.

Chapter Seven: Magic

Santino visits the circus and meets a magician named Ricardo. Ricardo and Santino later became friends revealing that Ricardo has a broken family he longs to see but due to some issues, meeting them is not easy.

* Gabby Concepcion as Ricardo - a magician that Santino met in the circus. Santino later finds out that he is just a lonely man looking for the comforts of his broken family.

Santino and the priests visited Father John's hacienda, where they've meet the latter's father, Don Miguel. However, Don Miguel doesn't welcome his son's priesthood and thinks that John's plans are just silliness. He believes that his son becoming a priest is not the way to happiness. He only believes that the only thing that will let his son gain happiness in life is money.

* Dante Rivero as Don Miguel Delgado - father of Brother John. He initially refused Brother John's plan of being a priest because he believed that being rich and wealthy is the best way to get happiness, but soon realizes after having a talk to Santino that it is not.
* Nanding Josef as Manding - helper of Don Miguel whom Father John is more closer to, which caused Don Miguel to feel jealous because John treats Manding more as a father.

Chapter Nine: Search

Santino meets a runaway woman named Cheska. She later reveals to Santino that she was searching for her biological mother who from what she knows still lives in Bagong Pag-asa. Her mother was later revealed to be the owner of the strip club of the town, "Heaven's Gate", but unluckily isn't excited to meet her daughter.

* Cristine Reyes as Cheska - a runaway young woman who searches for real self. After finding out that she was an adopted child, she searched to find her whole life to meet her biological mother
* Lotlot De Leon as Natty - Cheska's adoptive mother. A woman who never gets a chance to get pregnant. She bought Cheska from Ella just after they saved her from committing suicide. Nattie and her husband took care of Ella while she's pregnant and bought the kid after it was born.
* John Arcilla as Edwardo - Nattie's husband and Cheska's adoptive father. He, together with his wife, Nattie, saved Ella from committing suicide. The couple have been trying so hard to have a baby and got the idea of buying the baby from Ella.
* Glenda Garcia as Margie/Ellen - Cheska's biological mother. She's the lead "prostitute" in Heaven's Gate at her young age, but after she got pregnant all of her riches have disappeared. After giving up with life, she decided to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge while pregnant. Natty and her husband then saved her from killing herself. They took care for her, and eventually Ellen sold her baby to them.
* Andrea del Rosario as Janet - A woman who searched for her bestfriend in the town of Bagong Pag-asa. It was later revealed that her friend was Teresa Malimban, a woman connected to the lives of people of Bagong Pag-asa. She found out that her friend was dead more than 5 years ago and later decided to search for Teresa's son (who is Santino).

Chapter Ten: Values

A lone teacher suffers through pain after discovering that her whole life of teaching children will later be ended due to her age. She feels alone and sad as she remembers all of her students, sacrificed her whole life for them and eventually became their second mother, yet, none of them seems to remember her works for them.

* Susan Roces as Ms. Nieves Antazo - A teacher in Bagong Pag-Asa Elementary school, who is being forced to retire because of some budget issues. She begs for the school to stay because she doesn't care about the money, all she cares about is her student. She has spent her lifetime taking care of her students, which caused of her losing most of her loved ones in life.
* Roxanne Guinoo as young Ms. Nieves Antazo - as a young woman, Nieves has sacrificed her whole life for her students. Her life and lovelife has been destroyed due to her career.

Chapter Eleven: Fame

Adela, a former pornography star is abusing her son out of her hate and anger towards him. Adela was lucky to be given a starring role in a movie which unfortunately ended due to her pregnancy for her son. Boy George, her son, suffers to a lot of assault his mother gives because of his below average IQ, which unfortunately isn't enough for him to even enter a good college.

* Rosanna Roces as Adela San Jose - Mario's half-sister and is a former pornography actress. After given a serious dramatic role for a movie, unfortunately she got pregnant causing her whole career to shut down.
* Ejay Falcon as Boy George- Adela's son, a battered teenager due to his mother's greed of him causing her whole career to be ruined. Also, he is Mario's nephew. Boy George returns Bagong Pag-asa to pay a visit. At the same time he met Abby and fell in love with her. Now, Boy George is having troubles on how to court Abby.he returns to Bagong Pag-Asa and later learns that Mario was sacked from the police force.

Chapter Twelve: Truth

Carla, the daughter of the Bagong Pag-Asa school principal, is born into a rich and well-educated family. She is the "good and obedient" daughter. She is obedient to her father. She does well in school receiving high grades and is on her way to a good career path or so it seems. Her sister, Judith, is the complete opposite. She is the rebellious daughter. However, due to an unfortunate turn of events, Carla gets pregnant causing her dad to turn the wheel and treat her as a disgrace to the family.

* Anne Curtis as Carla- a simple, good daughter who later discovered that she's pregnant.
* Wendy Valdez as Judith- a rebel daughter who seems to be very emotional. She's been sent to rehab after being caught taking drugs, which she says she only did once. This makes his father be ashamed of her.

A woman and a man mysteriously appears in Bagong Pag-Asa and started searching for their son. Santino, as he knows that his real mother is probably alive have been mistakenly thought as the son of Miriam.

* Lorna Tolentino as Miriam - A woman who searches for her long-lost son named Ogie in Bagong Pag-asa who they believe was kidnapped by their family driver.
* Gardo Versoza as Gary - Miriam's husband. He always guides Miriam in all her searching for Ogie. However, he nearly loses hope that they will ever find Ogie again.

Chapter Fourteen: Inheritance

As Santino searches for his real mother, through the way of "lukso ng dugo" (a feeling), he meets a young woman named Abby, who helped him when he was lost. Santino thought that Abby is his mother as he felt a great connection between them, however Abby is too young to be his mother, which Abby herself implies. Abby is the granddaughter of the owner of the most know Tocino branch in the Philippines, "Tocino King". Her grandfather wants her to inherit the business; however, Abby doesn't feel a great perseverance to accept the offer.

* KC Concepcion as Abby Castaneda - A young woman who will meet Santino. She is the granddaughter of the owner of a food company known as "Tocino King". Abby then studies in America; however, his grandfather wants her to inherit the company. Abby is coming in great crisis either to accept the offer or not. Toward the end of the chapter,she accepts the offer. It is also implied that Boy George has a crush on her.
* Charlie Davao as Don Carlos - Abby's grandfather, some businessmen wanted to buy his company, yet he doesn't want to because he is willing to inherit it to his granddaughter Abby. However, Abby at first doesn't want to accept it.

Chapter Fifteen: Return

As Miriam and Gary are leaving Bagong Pag-asa, they meet Janet while having problems with their car. Miriam and Janet share their stories about the people they have been looking for. Miriam instantly realizes that Janet's story fits with Santino's life story. Meanwhile, Malena and Selda's mother Doña Anita returns to Bagong Pag-asa, where she started to connect with the characters' life. The recollection with Selda due to their conflict about Selda marrying a policeman, Anita meeting her granddaughter and the never-ending punishment of harsh words to Malena's husband, Enrique.

* Ron Morales as Robert - Doña Anita's personal assistant who practically takes care of every files Doña Anita got.

Chapter Sixteen: Hope

Santino and Paco are kidnapped by a gang who make little children beg in the streets. They also somehow sell children to couples who are unlikely to get pregnant. As Santino stays in the gang, he met Tatay Ben, a lonely old man whose the leader of the gang. In this whole new world of pain and suffering, Santino will derive to survive. Meanwhile, Father Paul was shot by one of Father Ben's allies and was taken in the hospital, where his family came to visit him. Santino then finally have returned home at the right time to heal Father Paul

* Johnny Delgado as Tatay Ben - the leader of the gang who kidnaps children to beg in the streets.
* Mark Bautista as Victorio - the father of Angelie (one of the kidnapped children). He soon reunites with his daughter after she escaped from Tatay Ben's household.
* Matet de Leon - as Kim -Father Paul's sister. She visited Father Paul as he was admitted in the hospital after being shot by one of Santino's kidnappers.
* Carl John Barrameda as Ryan - a kid who is a member of the gang who kidnaps children. He uses toys as baits to attract the kids. He admitted to Santino that his older brother was killed years before after drowning in the river. Afterwards, he went to Manila and met Tatay Ben. He told Santino that Tatay Ben is not a good person, and plans to escape along with Santino and the other children.
* Lloyd Zaragoza as Pedro - one of Tatay Ben's workers, he is actually a good guy as he helps the children when they are in trouble.He also has a crush on a public school teacher named Anna.
* Marvin Yap as Juan - one of Tatay Ben's workers.
* Archie Adamus as Andong - Tatay Ben's right hand man when his gang entering Bagong Pag-Asa and tries to kidnapped Santino and Paco. He was shot by the police after attempting to kidnap another pair of children.He told Father Paul's sister that if he will live,tell him that he is asking for forgiveness.
* Jacob Dionisio as Leopoldo/Leo - one of the children to beg in the streets, he has been having severe coughs lately.
* Philip Nolasco as Sid/Sidney - one of the kidnapped children and is a child genius.
* Tom Olivar - Manila Police Chief who helps Mario and Father Jose to find Santino and Paco who were kidnapped by Tatay Ben's armed men when Angelie was escaped from Tatay Ben and returns to her father, Victorio.

Chapter Seventeen: Justice

Pedro and Juan helps the kids escape from Tatay Ben's household. Tatay Ben then gets arrested and Santino told Angelie that he will return to Bagong Pag Asa when the former healed the latter's mother. Santino and Paco return to Bagong Pag Asa as classes were to resume and they have a Father's Day program. Meanwhile, Mario is sacked from the police force by his boss due to alleged insubordination and AWOL. Mario later chokes the police chief in the neck for insulting the former's dead father, also a former policeman. This results in a huge blow to Mario, whose daughter would have praised him in their Father's Day program. Santino will then urge Enrique to do something for Mario. People will hold rallies for Mario, whom they regard as a hero. Don Miguel dies despite Fr. John's bringing of Santino to heal him, and as Doña Anita prepares to reconcile with Selda, Stella's parentage is revealed.

Chapter Eighteen: Runaway

Mario is forced to leave his family alone due to the gossips and the shame of the revealed fact that Stella is his daughter. As the their family goes to crisis, Malena's whole family has persecuted her, from her mother to her husband. Selda is also suffering as she seeks for a sign from God, if she would ever need to forgive Mario for what he has done. Meanwhile, at the middle of the night a big surprise has startled the monastery as Brother Chi's sister seeks for help after being forced to marry a man she doesn't love. Selda forgives Mario and reconciles with her mom, while Alex' father tries to relocate his daughter's wedding in Bagong Pag-asa, despite opposition from the priests.

Chapter Nineteen: Past

Meanwhile, Santino meets a street vagrant after being bullied by children. Santino with his angels, helped the poor woman and took her to Selda's house, where Selda has cleaned her up. However, the vagrant is unable to speak due to trauma or whatever has happened to her in the past. Santino takes the vagrant for a stroll in the cemetery where he introduced her to the priests and to "Bro". Santino healed the woman and later finally remembers her name, Ina. Ina after a long time time in trauma, somehow, couldn't remember anything from her past except for her name. She then dreams about a guy named Andrew, whom she believes is her best friend.

* Maricar Reyes - as Ate Ina - a "taong grasa" or a street vagrant whom Santino helped after being bullied by the public people.
* Jason Abalos- as Andrew - Ina's bestfriend since highschool whom took care of her after her parents have died. He's an aspiring pilot, which signifies the "airplane toy" that Ina always brings with her. He died after trying to protect Ina from a group of bad guys.

Chapter Twenty: Revenge

Doña Anita is having difficulties about the case she's being involved with. Because of the matter becoming serious, she swallows her pride and asked Enrique for help. Meanwhile, Doña Anita is accused and imprisoned for murders that happened when her men were evicting people from her land; however, Enrique refuses to help her but instead seeks revenge for the past sins his mother-in-law did to him. Anita suffers a heart attack and is hospitalized. It was later revealed that the couple that was murdered in Sitio Hulo was the parents of Enrique. It's also revealed that Enrique was the one behind the recent accusations to Doña Anita because he wants revenge.

* Jairus Aquino - as Young Enrique/ Gonzalvo Policarpio - as a young kid, Enrique lost both of his parents after Doña Anita's men accidentally killed them.
* Bert Martinez as Father - Albert Martinez's father made an appearance on the show
* Liza Lorena as Doña Anita Rodriguez - Doña Anita was captured and imprisoned after being accused for the murder that happened to Bagong Pag-asa 30 years ago.
* Ron Morales as Robert/Martin Policarpio - He has worked for Doña Anita since she was in the States, he also now takes care of Doña Anita's case. It is later revealed that he is the younger brother of Enrique or Gonsalvo Policarpio.

Chapter Twenty One: Sacrifice

Father Patrick receives a letter regarding his younger brother Jepoy. He finds out that Jepoy have given up his studies to work as a fisherman to earn money for the family. Hence, Father Patrick quickly asks for Father Anthony's permission to leave and go back home. Santino with Father Jose and Father Paul joined Father Patrick in his way back to their province which turned out to be a seaside. As they arrive they saw Jepoy about to leave with one of the fishermen in the middle of the night. After learning that the person Jepoy is working with uses dynamite when fishing, Father Patrick stops him as he think this is way too dangerous for a child to handle. Jepoy gets mad at Father Patrick and later starts to explain to him why he needs to earn money.

* Makisig Morales[4] as Jepoy - Father Patrick's younger brother who, unknown from Father Patrick, had given up his studies to start working. He has completely abandoned his childhood unlike other children who always plays, he spends his time working as a fisherman to earn money.
* Jeffrey Santos - as Anton - one of the fishermen who Jepoy works with. Father Patrick learns that he uses dynamite when fishing - which is illegal.

Chapter Twenty Two: Rivalry

A surprise visit shocks Baby after her sister, Delilah, drops by for a visit. Apparently, she didn't just comeby for a visit, she came of help with her problem, money-wise. Unfortunately, Delilah has lost most of her money, and went for Baby in need of help. It turns out that Baby hates her so much, because their father had always liked Delilah over her. As she stays in Baby's place, she didn't feel very much welcomed by her sister. She was very nice and very joyful when meeting people including Santino. Baby got jealous and started a rumour that she is a witch, which the public easily believed after an unknown illness has struck the people. She was boycotted by the townspeople where she was forced to run to the monastery to seek help.

* Ai-Ai Delas Alas as Delilah - Baby's half-sister. Between the siblings, she is the most favorite one of their parents. She used to be rich, but because of some problems, she unfortunately lost all her money. She pays a visit to Baby to find some comfort, who is unfortunately isn't enthusiazed to see her. She was then mistaken by the townspeople as a witch after Baby have started the rumor that she is one.

Chapter Twenty Three: Epidemic

Since the hospital is starting to overflow with patients infected with the West Nile Virus, the doctor facilitating the health center decides to close their doors to other incoming patients. Unfortunately, the said event further enrages everybody in town, thus causing Mayor Enrique to take immediate action. In order to cure everybody in town, Enrique finally seeks the help of a doctor with expertise on infectious diseases, Dr. Marcelito Azarcon. It turns out that Dr. Marcelito is a previous resident of bagong Pag-Asa where he met his first love Patricia, however, chose his career path over her. As he returns tp agon Pag-Asa, he met Santino in the church where they a little talk. Lito told Santino that he doesn't believe in God, he thinks that its only one way to let other people feel calm during problem and science is always the one finding that solution. As he help stop the disease, he discovered that Patricia has Leukemia after being badly infected by the West Nile Virus. Lito seeks help to Santino to heal Patricia, which Santino granted.

* Christopher de Leon as Dr. Marcelito "Lito" Azarcon - a doctor who have helped Bagong Pag-asa after a mild illness has struck in the midst of the people. He doesn't have faith to God because he believes that only science and the people's freewill can make their wanted things to happen. It was also later revealed that he had a relationship with Nurse Patricia but broke up because he chose his career over her.
* Ana Capri as Patricia - a nurse in the hospital in Bagong Pag-asa. It was later revealed that she had a relationship with Dr. Azarcon, but apparently broke up because Marcelito chose his job over her. It was also revealed that she has leukemia.
* John Wayne Sace as Arnel - a guy who was trapped in Bagong Pag-asa during the epidemic. He was suppose to come to his mother's funeral.
* Joseph Bitangcol as Bryan - Pam's boyfriend, who is trying to get into Bagong Pag-asa to tend to his pregnant girlfriend, he is currently with Cocoy. Before he couldn't handle the fact that he was going to be a father and ran away. Now he's ready and is trying to get to Pam.
* Dianne Medina as Pam - Bryan's pregnant girlfriend, who is trapped in Bagong Pag-asa and stayed in the monastery. Pam dreams of getting married at the church in Bagong Pag-asa because her parents got married there
* Benjie Felipe - a man that Malena paid to destroy Mayor from the public.

Chapter Twenty Four: Pestilence

After surpassing the town epidemic, it seems that Bagong Pag-asa is about to face another dilemma. To everybody’s surprise, a threatening swarm of locusts suddenly attacks the whole town giving problems to the farmers, an alarming number of cockroaches destroying the town's livestock and a group of wild animals such as rats and snakes scaring the townspeople. It was later discovered that whats causing the animals to move and wonder about is the activities being done by an active volcano nearby, which apparently disturbs them. However, the townspeople doesn't seem to believe this and through Malena's plans, they rather believe that Mayor Enrique is a pest in town spreading bad luck around the people.

Meanwhile, Santino is helped by a Taho vendor named Moy. Santino learns more about his new friend Moy through the latter’s daughter Grace. The little girl reveals that her father currently has 4 jobs in order to get them though each and everyday. Aside from that, she also shares to Santino that her mother had left them before due to her father’s lack of wealth. To Grace’s surprise, her mother unexpectedly returns. Upon his wife’s sudden comeback, Moy is in fact glad; but he just couldn’t help but fear the thought that she might take their child away from him sooner or later.

* Vhong Navarro as Moy - A taho vendor who was struck in the midst of the locust invasion. Since his wife left him, he ended up as a single father who does everything just to take care of his only child, Grace. They have a dog named Rocky.
* Mylene Dizon as Jackie - Moy's wife. She went abroad to find work without even saying goodbye to Moy. Now she came back richer than before and tries to take Grace away from Moy.
* Erin Panlilio as Grace - Moy & Jackie's daughter. Grace didn't want to live with her mom because she knows for the fact that Jackie have abandoned them due to lack of money. As part of her wishes, she only wants to be with her father, her grampa Pilo and their dog, Rocky.
* Rocky - a German Shepherd dog owned by Moy and Grace. He has been with the family for quite a long time and have apparently been a special part of them.

Chapter Twenty Five: Home

Moy is disappointed upon granting the 5 wishes of his daughter Grace. Specially the first one in which she wishes that both of them will always be together for Moy has finally decided to give Grace to Jackie; thinking that the latter could take better care of their child. Another one of the of Grace's wishes is to be with his Grandfather Pilo who is in the home for the aged. Pilo was left by his son in the center due to lack of money. After being given to Jackie, Grace thought that she was just kidnapped by her mother without her father knowing, so she ran away back to the monastery to comeback for Moy. Moy then later explained to Grace everything which she couldn't really understand. After being returned to Jackie again, Grace runs away for the second time, but this time she went to her grandfather in Manila. Riding on a banana delivery truck, Grace invites Santino to join her. Santino, in worries for Grace came along. The whole monastery and Grace's parent have panicked due to the children's disappearance. After looking for them, they figured out that the two maybe in Manila with Pilo. They went to the home for the aged and asked Pilo, but denies that Grace and Santino are with him. It was later revealed that they actually are, and Pilo was just hiding them in his room. Pilo worries about Grace being taken away, so he ran away from the Home and took the kids in an old house to hide. However, a tricycle driver mistook Pilo as a pedophile and reported him to the police, where Jackie figured out that the girl being reported is Grace. In the middle of the night, the three were surrounded by the police. Although being surrounded, no one knew that the guy being mistaken as a criminal was Pilo. It was later revealed that it was actually Pilo when Moy and the others arrive at the old house. Pilo refuses to give Grace up to the police even though three snipers have been targeted on him. Jackie decided that she wouldn't take Grace anymore, as long as Pilo would give her up. Pilo gave up the children and although Jackie promised, she still tried to take Grace away, but after a talk to Santino, she decided to leave Grace with Moy, however, to give her a better life, she would help pay for Grace's needs. The family then rejoices as they're finally back together again.

* Dolphy as Pilo - Moy's father whom he never have spoken to in ages. He's in a home for the aged.
* Lou Veloso as Paeng - one of the old people in the home for the aged. He helped Pilo to run away from the home.
* Ramil Rodriguez as Pedring - one of the old people in the home for the aged. He offered his old house as a hiding place for Pilo and the children.
* Nina Dolino - Paeng's granddaughter.
* Martin del Rosario - Pedring's grandson.

Chapter Twenty Six: Care

Santino and the priests in the monastery meet a girl named Sara, who is then accompanying a special child named Val. The young lady introduces the child as her very own son. According to her, she and the boy escaped from his spiteful husband with completely nothing at hand. The very next day, Santino and his friends drop by their household in order to befriend them. To Sara’s surprise, Val seems to be completely receptive of Santino’s intention to extend a friendly hand. Meanwhile, the town is planning to have a celebration from all the pestilence that have happened. A surprising event happened on a rehearsal, where Val shows a talent of playing the piano. Upon seeing the child's skills, he was considered as a gifted child by the townspeople where everybody had talks about him. As Val's fame rises, his father have discovered where Sara and the child is hiding. The father surprises everyone on one of the practice session of the celebration where he revealed that Sara isn't the child's real mother. She was only a caregiver who took the kid and tells everyone that he's her own son. On Sara's side, she explain that the kid in not being given good care by his father, he was always being scold for and sometimes being hid from the public by imprisoning him in a room. The father, Carlo, explains that he hates Val because when his wife was giving to him, an unexpected problem happened which caused her death. Carlo later slowly realizes that it is his own fault why the child was driven away from him. As he hears his son play, he remembers his wife who is also a pianist, and through his son's music, he realizes that Val is a remembrance from his wife. After the celebration he promised that he will never be ashamed about his son again and will be proud of him no matter what. He also dropped that charges for Sara.

* Bea Alonzo as Sara - A woman who was taking care of Val, a special child. She presumes that she was Val's mother and she's trying to hide from their husband because she is being abused. It was later revealed that she wasn't really the kid's mother. She was only a caregiver who kidnapped the kid because his parents weren't really taking care him. She loves Val too much because she also had an autistic older sister who died after being hit by a jeep.
* Nash Aguas as Joey/Val - The child who was with Sara, which everyone assumed as his mother. He's autistic which makes it very hard for him to communicate with other people, especially kids his own age. On a church celebration, he was revealed to be a gifted child on playing the piano. His mother died after giving birth to him.
* Vice Ganda as Maxie - Sara's gay bestfriend. He's a Vilmanian and a very joyful person. He went with Sara to help them hide from her husband.
* Ryan Eigenmann as Carlo - Joey/Val's father. He went in Bagong Pag-asa upon knowing that this is where the caregiver he hired took his kid. He hates Val because his wife died after giving birth to him.

Chapter Twenty Seven: Lost

Malena identifies Tilde to be Enrique’s secret girlfriend. Upon realizing this, Malena relentlessly drags the young lady out of the monastery to confront her regarding the matter. Tilde fails to deny the allegation, thus causing Malena to make a big scene in front of everybody. The said revelation further heightens up her hatred against her husband; and on her personal enumeration of all the troubles Enrique caused her, truth has been told that Enrique is in fact Santino’s real father. Meanwhile, fed up with his parents’ constant warring, Rico suddenly decides to runaway. Upon learning this, Santino together with three of his other friends decide to chase him and convince him to come back home. Enrique, the priests and the children's families mistakenly believe the kids were kidnapped. The children then succeed on convincing the boy but they faced trouble on their way back to their town. Aside from being lost in the middle of nowhere without food and water, Rico encounters a rather unfortunate situation. He ends up being caught in quicksand. On Santino’s way to help the poor boy out, he too falls in the trap. Their other friends rescued them, but they haven't returned yet to Bagong Pag-asa. It is also revealed that the place they are in is the hideout of insurgents. The kids then seek help from a man living in the forests, but it turns out that he is the leader of the insurgents' gang.

* Kaye Abad as Minerva - After the children's disappearance, Minerva came searching for her son, Alfred.
* Eva Darren as Lola Belen - Noticing that Paco is lost, his grandmother came searching for her grandson.
* Benjie Felipe - a man that Malena paid to destroy Mayor from the public, he mainly do this by telling the townspeople that Mayor is the cause of all the bad things happening in Bagong Pag-asa.

Ratings

In terms of nationwide ratings released by TNS, May Bukas Pa reached 49.5%, surpassing its pilot rating. The show's highest rating so far was 56.8% on August 3, 2009. Meanwhile, it has so far peaked at 47.3% in Mega Manila according to AGB Nielsen Philippines.

Due to the show's ratings, ABS-CBN's management has decided to extend it for 20 weeks instead of the initial eight weeks.On June 23, 2009, ABS-CBN television head Cory Vidanes announced on May Bukas Pa's recent thanksgiving party that the show will be extended until January of next year (2010).

Reviews

Entertainment columnist Nestor Torre of The Philippine Daily Inquirer said "It must have been a big decision for the new show’s producers to get away from that downbeat view of life and come up with this Marcelino Pan Y Vino-inspired tale. But it’s great to note that the gamble has paid off in a big way: May Bukas Pa has been enjoying very good ratings, proving what we’ve been saying all this time--that viewers want to be inspired by the dramas they watch.." However, he criticized the show's "religious" scenes which are "poorly, shallowly staged, thus making genuine inspiration and devotion difficult to come by while viewing the series." He further criticized the show's use of extras mostly playing sick people, who turn out to be bad actors. He adds, "Any director worth his salt would have sensed that the montage of healing needed good actors to make it meaningful and moving. Why were inept actors used instead? Possibly because the production was scrimping on talent fees. Well, it was a penny-wise pound-foolish decision, because the important sequence was botched."

Special re-run

As a lenten offering to its viewers and ABS-CBN's Holy Week presentation, May Bukas Pa had its encore telecast on Maundy Thursday (April 9, 2009) and Good Friday (April 10, 2009) at 7-10 pm, and on Black Saturday (April 11, 2009) at 6-10 pm.

The 3-part marathon special garnered high ratings nationwide from TNS Media Research.

Extension till January 2010

Supposedly, the show will air until the end of June or first week of July after its initial 20 weeks extension last February. However, due to its ratings success, after the Thanksgiving Mass attended by some of the bosses of ABS-CBN and all artist and crew of the show last Monday, Cory Vidanes (station's television head) announced that the airing of the show will be extended until January next year.
